Dirty Angel by Barbara Elsborg

Dirty Angel

Dying Sucks

Particularly when you discover there really is a hell. Aden thinks there’s no way he can avoid going down, but when an angel and demon can’t agree over his fate, Aden is given one more month to gain redemption. He doubts he can find a way to become a better man in so short a time. But it’s worth a try, right?

Living sucks

Particularly when you can’t shake free of an obsessive ex. Brody might be managing to hold down his job as a vet, but his personal life is a mess. If he doesn’t pull himself together soon, he’s going to be sliding downhill too fast to stop.

One wet night, on a dark country lane, two worlds collide and destinies change forever.

Heaven and Hell. Right and wrong. Good vs evil. Angels and demons!

I myself have wondered, have I done enough? Been good enough?
Will I be forgiven for those I've wronged? The lies I've told? Will I be allowed in Heaven?

This book makes you think!
It sucks you into otherworldly thoughts and possibilities.
It makes you fall in love.

As in usual Barbara Elsborg fashion, this book is witty, the characters sarcastic, the story emotional, funny and thought provoking!

Aden's backstory broke my heart.  Over the course of the story bits and pieces of his childhood and the suffering he endured was revealed.
It brought me to tears on many occasions.

"Worried you'll get lost?"

"I've been lost all my life, " Aden replied quietly.

"Not lost." Brody squeezed his fingers.
"Just undiscovered."

Brody on the other hand has also had a rough go at life, getting wrangled into things at a young age he had no control over.

These two together are sexy as hell, but they're also extremely sweet.

Barbara also has a gift of making even the sexiest of moments fun and funny.
Her characters are always cheeky and sarcastic and I love that! They're very endearing.

Also, I can't not mention the animals!
Brody is a vet and lives on a farm, so several different animals come in to play throughout the story. From emotional moments that brought me to tears to laugh out loud ones, these animals made a great addition to the story.

All in all, another fantastic read from Barbara Elsborg!
I highly recommend you read this one!

The One by Kristin Vayden

The One

When your best friend is also your boss, ‘great ideas’ aren’t always optional.
After all, when you run the largest fashion, gossip and trend blog in the country, you got to take risks to keep it edgy.
Believe me. This is edgy.
The idea? For one week, date every male fantasy.
The list?
The Jock
The Rock star
The Billionaire
The Stepbrother

See how they are all crossed off except one? That’s because he’s Satan.
And Scottish.
And my best friend’s stepbrother.
And there may or may not have been an incident in Jr. high that he hasn’t forgiven me for…but that’s history.
Or so I hope, because I’m at his mercy for the next week…

This was my first read from Kristin Vayden and I really enjoyed her writing.
I'm a sucker for witty and sarcastic banter between the characters and this book had it spot on!

The dates poor Meredith went on had me laughing like crazy!
So much for fantasies!
Then there's Kirby!
Oh boy, now there's one fantasy I'd like to explore!
The Scotsman!! yum
Loved Kirby, his accent and his antics!

I also enjoyed the walk through Scotland. I've never been, but always wanted to.
Gave me a little glimpse. Not a whiskey drinker, but delved a bit into that as well.

This was a light, funny, sweet and very cute read.

Fighting Fate (The Fighting Series, #6) by J.B. Salsbury

Fighting Fate (Fighting, #6)

Axelle’s broken.
I live to hold her together.

Killian McCreery only has two dreams . . .
Fight for the UFL.
And Axelle.

He’s watched her give her time and her body to men who don’t deserve to breathe her air. He’s waited, worked hard to become the kind of man she deserves, hoping one day, when the time is right, he’d get the opportunity to make her happy. After a painful anniversary, he finally gets his chance.

But life has a way of sucker-punching its victims—striking when they least expect it in the most devastating ways.

Killian loves me.
But I screwed up. Big time.

Axelle Daniels appears to be the typical college student—parties, hangovers, and men. No one knows that inside she’s a mess, and no amount of booze or meaningless relationships have managed to fill the cracks in her heart. But Killian knows. He’s been there since the night it all began and has never left her side.

When she wakes up one morning to find the consequences of her actions have caught up to her, even Killian’s white-knighthood can’t save her now.

Fate is put to the test when, for the first time in their five-year friendship, they no longer have each other to lean on. When he becomes a UFL superstar, she hardly recognizes the man he used to be. And she no longer needs him to hold her together.

With the foundation of their friendship gone, they’ll discover that even a love that is meant to be needs to be fought for and destiny is a choice

This was a great read!
There was a certain point where I was trudging along, enjoying the story but about to update my status and call it a night.
I happened to see a couple of reviews that said they cried like crazy!
I thought... WTF?
Why am I not feeling it like them?
Why am I not crying??
I don't get it.

Well, Judy...
because you hadn't turned the page yet!
OMG, did I cry!
I may have cried the last half of the book!

Killian and Axelle!
I've been waiting for their story and I was so not disappointed.

Axelle, we all know her story. She's had it rough in the trust and abandonment department. Her insecurities are endless. Is she worthy enough? Will this one stick around? Will he love her?

"Some of our biggest mistakes end up being our greatest blessings."

Killian is amazing. He's everything you want in a friend and lover. He's kind, considerate and thoughtful. He's gorgeous and talented, but not boastful. He's protective and he'll do absolutely everything he has to for those he loves.
He's the ultimate book boyfriend.

JB knows how to write big, tough men with a heart of gold, and that is exactly what Killian is!
This story was sweet, tender, and loving. It was funny and sexy! At the same time it kept me on my toes. There was angst, drama and the unknown.
Will he? Won't he?

As with all the books in the Fighting Series these characters are a family.
All for one and one for all!
I know, wrong tag line, but still, I love the camaraderie and friendship that is ever present.
KO for sure!!
