Touch the Sky by Christina Lee and Nyrae Dawn

Touch the Sky (Free Fall, #1)

Lucas Barnett and Gabriel Stewart didn’t have it easy as kids. They were only trying to deal with bad situations at home when they became lifelines for each other. Their pipe dream was to someday meet in LA, where Lucas would design skyscrapers, and Gabriel would learn to fly. But then Gabriel disappeared without so much as a goodbye, and Lucas got himself in trouble with the law.

Five years later, both men are at a loss when they run into each other at a Hollywood bar. Lucas is still angry, but it’s not as if Gabriel could control how his mind and body had betrayed him. Being found on the ledge of that bridge had changed everything.

The attraction is immediate, but it’s more than their inability to keep their hands off each other. Neither man expects the fierce connection pulling them together. Unfortunately, ignoring their problems doesn’t make them disappear. Gabriel’s internal struggles are serious…dangerous. And no matter how much Lucas wants it to be true, saving Gabriel won’t make up for not being able to save his mom. If they don’t find the strength to face their own demons before the darkness takes hold, they risk more than just losing each other forever.

Very sweet and sad all in one.
A story about life, loss, forgiveness and acceptance.

They were so sweet as kids, full of hopes and dreams, yet both their lives were so screwed up.
They had each other and that was all they needed.... until they didn't.

These boys shared a shy and sweet, almost insecure love with a deep down bond... even years later.

I really enjoyed this collaboration.
Christina and Nyrae delved into some pretty tough issues like mental health, addiction, death, etc.
It was heartbreaking.
There were bouts of sexiness and fun, of course, and I really enjoyed those parts, but overall it was truly an emotional and beautiful story.

The Fire Between High & Lo by Brittainy Cherry

The Fire Between High & Lo (Elements, #2)

Blurb

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone was the complete opposite of me. I danced while he stood still. He was quiet, and I was always running my mouth. He struggled to find a smile while I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn’t look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. I threw us away with one hasty decision—a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

Book #2 in the Romance Elements Series.

My Review

Brittainy has done it again.

She never ceases to amaze me, nor does she know how to write a book that doesn't bring me to tears!

This story broke my heart more than once.

It was full of sweet, young love, at the same time filled with agony and heartbreak.

Poor Lo.

I can't count the amount of times I cried for him.

She came from a lifestyle where fancy dinners were normal, I came from a world where dinner wasn’t always available.

Ugh... the parts from Lo's childhood killed me!!!

No words I have will do justice to this book. It was equally beautiful as it was gut-wrenching.

This story is jam-packed with love, friendship, hardship, pain, agony, desperation, hope...
it's a must read for sure!!!

“One day at a time. That’s all it takes to get through anything. Don’t think too much about the future or keep your brain running on the past treadmill—just stay in the now. Be here now. That’s the best way to live life. In the moment. One day at a time.”

Felony Ever After by Helena Hunting, Debra Anastasia, Nina Bocci, Vi Keeland, Penelope Ward, Leisa Rayven, Liv Morris, Tijan, JM Darhower, Belle Aurora, K.A. Robinson, S. M. Lumetta, Katherine Stevens

Verity Michaels is new to New York City, but even she knows riding in a stolen a cab is not a normal way to meet someone. Damn it if that tattoo-covered would-be felon isn’t everywhere now, and lighting everything on fire under her skirt.
His name is Hudson Fenn, and he’s frustratingly impossible to pin down. He works as a bike messenger, but has the manners of a prince—along with a strange tendency toward breaking and entering. As much as Verity knows he’s not her type, and likely to land her in jail, she can’t help but find her truest self when they’re together.
Can she be brave enough to give Hudson a real chance? Will he be bold enough to reveal the man beneath the ink, or will his secrecy doom their connection? Also, WTF is the deal with Verity’s boss? No less than thirteen of your favorite romance writers have teamed up to tell this sexy, wacky, snort-inducing tale. With them you’ll visit the world’s most irritating office, a VIP room of questionable cleanliness, and the fanciest apartment a bike messenger has ever inhabited, but you’ll still never see this ending coming.

This was hysterical!!!

"If I put the no-no hole on the table, he might take the bait."

This was a very entertaining read. It was fun, original and sexy!

I cannot believe that 13 authors wrote this! The story flowed seamlessly as if it were created by just one person!

And Hudson??? Delish!!!
He was sexy, secretive and just down right beautiful!

Verity was ready. As in, Betty-Crocker-Super-Moist-cake ready.

Verity was hilarious. The things she churned up in that head of hers were outrageous. I loved the tweeting. It was witty, silly, and too funny!

I really am in awe of how these 13 authors wrote as one. You wouldn't know it if you hadn't been told!
Bravo ladies!! Laugh out loud funny!!

Finley by Ella Frank

Finley

It's time to come home, Finn.
It’s been seven years since Daniel Finley left his hometown in Florida for the hustle and bustle of Chicago’s city life. Since then, he’s worked hard for his position at the prestigious law firm Leighton & Associates, even when it’s caused distance and isolation from his family and friends. But that’s all about to change. On his thirtieth birthday, he receives the one thing he never dared hope for. Something that was promised to him years earlier—a note. One simple sentence from the man he’s never been able to forget.

Six words will forever change the course of their lives.

Brantley Hayes has it all. Or so he thinks. When he first made the decision to take a job down in Florida, his family thought he was crazy. But, after years of living in the quiet beach town, he finally feels a sense of community. He’s surrounded himself with friends who are like family, has a job he loves, and owns a spectacular beachfront property that is his sanctuary. Yet he still feels unfulfilled, as if a piece of the puzzle is missing, and he knows exactly which piece it is. On an impulse, he follows through with a promise he made years earlier. A promise to call home the one he sent away.

Nothing is as simple as it seems.

After years of separation, the former lovers are reunited, but Brantley wasn’t expecting to encounter the high walls now guarding Daniel’s heart. Daniel may not be the same person he was when he left, but he knows that the first step to healing is the note in his hand.

Finley!
He's the cocky, arrogant, sexy guy we met in The Temptation Series.. and yes, he was that... and we got that, but we got so much more!

This was the sweetest of love stories. They've been pining away for each other all these years.
What started as an intense, forbidden attraction turned into a lifelong love.

Brantley did what he did all those years ago out of love, never thinking things would turn out the way they did.
Finn on the other hand felt betrayed, abandoned, and unbelievably hurt.

UGH, the  feelings and emotions this story brought out in me were intense.

"You slay me."

The story is told in alternating povs as well as a back and forth of past and present.
I LOVED it!
As much tenderness and emotion I felt from this story I can not not talk about the fact that this is an Ella Frank book after all, and when I say that, you know where I'm going!

"Those were not puppy-dog eyes. They were fuck-me eyes if ever I've seen them."

It was hot as all hell!!
Good god did these two turn me on as much as they did each other! Scorching!

Two things I haven't mentioned yet, and then I'll let you read it for yourself!
One...
get some tissues. You'll need them. In more ways than one, but I digress!
I cried. A few times.
It was that heartfelt and tender!

"You're going to break my heart, aren't you?"

And Two...
we got a sneaky peak at Logan and Tate!!! Yep, all I'll say is those delicious boys make an appearance!
Now.. off you go to purchase Finley for yourselves!

Endure (The Survival Series, #2) by Amber R Polk

Endure (The Survival Series, #2)

Veronica Williams lost everything that kept her alive: her home, her heart, and most importantly, her brother Jacob. She is forced to push past the grief to seek vengeance against the man who took it all-Luke Grislon.

Set on a journey of no return, she is willing to pay the ultimate price for revenge, her humanity.

Can she find peace in a shattered world, or will doubts, mistrust, and unanswered secrets be more than she can endure?

This was my first read by this author and it was also my first Dystopian!

I probably should have read Survive first, to have gotten a better look into the characters (and that's where the story begins), but unfortunately I didn't. In all honesty though, I was not lost and able to follow along just fine.

I really enjoyed the world Amber has created.
Roni is filled with uncertainty and heartache. She has no one to turn to, nothing left to lose!

This story kept me intrigued. There was sadness, love, friendship and loyalty. I giggled a few times, held my breath at others and even shed a couple of tears!!

This was actually a light and very easy going read. It had happiness and silliness amidst the mystery and dread.

I NEED the next book!!!

Hooker (LA Liaisons, #2) by Brooke Blaine

Hooker (L.A. Liaisons, #2)

Whoever said singles were missing out by not finding true love and getting married before the age of thirty had never experienced the sheer pleasure of nightly romantic comedy viewings in their underwear while eating one of Licked’s famous Crazy Cat Lady sundaes. Because life just doesn’t get better than that.

At least, it doesn’t for Shayne Callahan. It didn’t take more than a handful of broken hearts after college to solidify that she was better at pairing up those around her than herself. As a matchmaker at the elite HLS—Hook, Line, & Sinker Matchmaking Company—in the City of Angels, she has a knack for finding the other halves of even the most eccentric clients:

Sugar daddy with a foot fetish? Gross, but no problem.
A severe case of nudophobia? Match made before lunch.

But even the most happily independent of women can find their best-laid plans screeching to a halt when they meet that guy. For Shayne, that guy comes in the form of boyishly handsome, suspender-lovin’, dimple-poppin’ Nate Ryan on a pantsless (we’ll get to that later) Metro ride.

Of course, relationships can never be easy. Before the destined lovers can ride off into the sunset, they must overcome a power-hungry and sexual-punning boss, a celebrity scandal and cover-up, and let’s not forget Shayne’s dreadful foot-in-mouth disease—with which there can never be a happily ever after.

Will fate throw Shayne a freakin’ bone? Or will she be destined to live out her life as sexy(ish), single(ish), and L.A.’s finest Hooker (upper)?

This book had me laughing out loud and swooning for suspenders!!!!!!

I love Brooke's sassy characters and flirty banter!

Shayne is an awesome chick, and one of the four friends we met in Licked!

She's sweet and smart and random things just tumble out of her mouth when she's nervous!

Nate is a beautiful man with dimples and suspenders! He's truly a character I fell in love with. Charismatic, sweet,  tender and kind.. and let's not forget sexy as hell!!

This book kept me entertained from start to finish. I actually continued reading it through a tornado warning while hiding in a closet! Seriously!

This book is fun, quirky and lighthearted... except for 1 or 2 parts that had me a little choked up, I'm not gonna lie!

It's also sexy and sweet and filled to the brim with friendship, loyalty and love.

I know I've said sexy and sweet about 10 times, but it really was. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait for what Brooke has in store for us next!!

Us (Him, #2) by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy

Us (Him, #2)

Can your favorite hockey players finish their first season together undefeated?

Five months in, NHL forward Ryan Wesley is having a record-breaking rookie season. He's living his dream of playing pro hockey and coming home every night to the man he loves–Jamie Canning, his longtime best friend turned boyfriend. There's just one problem: the most important relationship of his life is one he needs to keep hidden, or else face a media storm that will eclipse his success on the ice.

Jamie loves Wes. He really, truly does. But hiding sucks. It's not the life Jamie envisioned for himself, and the strain of keeping their secret is taking its toll. It doesn't help that his new job isn't going as smoothly as he'd hoped, but he knows he can power through it as long as he has Wes. At least apartment 10B is their retreat, where they can always be themselves.

Or can they? When Wes's nosiest teammate moves in upstairs, the threads of their carefully woven lie begin to unravel. With the outside world determined to take its best shot at them, can Wes and Jamie develop major-league relationship skills on the fly?

Warning: contains sexual situations, a vibrating chair, long-distance sexytimes, and proof that hockey players look hot in any shade of green.

We pick up where book one leaves off. I most definitely urge you to read Him first!
Jamie and Wes are now living together and happy as can be! Right? Right?

This books delves into their lives, in the closet. Their struggles at staying there.. for now at least. And their bond. Their friendship. Their love!

I absolutely loved book one and honestly could have left it at that!
Eek, I know, shame on me, but I'm weird like that.
I was happy with knowing they were together and happy.
But... here comes along book 2 and I go for it!

To me this was a real look into the "after" of their
"happily ever after."
We get real life struggles. Real pain and real heartache. Not everyone's lives are sunshine and rainbows and for Wes and Jamie, they learn that the hard way.

Struggles aside, it was funny, sexy and very sweet. A little sad at times, but that just made the sweet all the better.

It was a nice continuation of Jamie and Wes's story.

Midnight Lily by Mia Sheridan

Midnight Lily

Holden Scott is the prince of professional football. At least he was before he lost it all . . . or more to the point, before he threw it all away. Now he's out of a job, out of the public's good graces, and perhaps just a little out of his mind. So when a friend offers up his remote lodge in the wilds of Colorado, giving Holden some time away to get his life back on track, he can hardly say no. The last thing he expects is to see a beautiful girl in the woods—one wearing a white, lace dress who appears in the moonlight, and leaves no footprints behind. Is she a dream? A ghost? A product of his muddled imagination? Or something entirely different?

Midnight Lily is the haunting love story of two lost souls reaching for each other in the dark. A tale of healing, acceptance, and the worlds we create to protect our own hearts. It is a story of being lost, of being found, and of being in the place between.

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY VIRGO. Non-Paranormal, New Adult Contemporary Romance.Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Wow!
Amazing!

My mind was going a mile a minute, trying to figure things out.
In the end I was left a bit dumbstruck.
Mute.
Mind-blown!

I didn't understand how I could feel like I'd been slapped silly and left wondering what the ever loving hell just happened to me... when also feeling that without a doubt I just read a 5 star book!?!?!
How does that happen?

Midnight Lily is brilliant, moving, and so completely different than anything I've read!
Full of unexpected turns, and so much love and emotion.
I was emotionally invested in these characters.
There was such beauty yet utter sadness.

Among the sweetness and love there's an overwhelming feeling of mystery. I couldn't quite seem to put my finger on it!!!

All I can say is... Mia Sheridan is the shit!
I am in awe!
5 unbelievable, highly recommended stars!

Hawke (Cold Fury Hockey, #5) by Sawyer Bennett

Hawke (Cold Fury Hockey, #5)

The Carolina Cold Fury hockey team proves that love is a power play. As Sawyer Bennett’s New York Times bestselling series continues, the league’s most notorious party animal gets blindsided by the one that got away.

Off the ice, elite defenseman Hawke Therrien enjoys his fair share of booze and good times. And why shouldn’t he? He’s worked his way up from the minor leagues and made himself a star. The only thing Hawke misses from that life is the pierced, tattooed free spirit who broke his heart without so much as an explanation. She’s almost unrecognizable when she walks back into his life seven years later—except for the look in her eyes that feels like a punch to the gut.

Vale Campbell isn’t the same girl she was at twenty. As crazy as she was about Hawke, her reckless behavior and out-of-control drinking were starting to scare her. She had to clean up her act, and that would never happen with Hawke around. Cutting him loose was the hardest thing Vale ever had to do—until now. Because she’s still crazy about Hawke. And if he could ever learn to forgive her, they just might have a future together.

Hawke started out pretty intriguing.
I'll admit that the beginning broke my heart a bit and I wanted to know what happened! Poor Hawke got dumped and I wanted to know why!
I love a good second-chance romance!

Let me first say that I found this story to be easy going and sexy, with overall great sweetness.
Hawke is the quintessential hockey hottie, but with a extraordinary heart.
Hawke's interaction with Vale's dad showed what a truly genuine person he is and I enjoyed that.
What fell flat for me was just the overall tone.
Although those moments were there, it was a bit ho-hum for me.
Easy going read, but missing that punch I need.

I found flaws in the big "break-up/make-up", what exactly happened and the actions that came from it.
Conflicts were quickly looked over and forgiven.
You could say the characters did the mature thing and brushed it off, moved forward.. but that's just not very realistic. I wanted more. I was let down in that aspect.

Overall, it was a quick and light read with bouts of sexy and sweet.
