Bittersweet (True North) by Sarina Bowen

The new series is set in Vermont. True North is populated by the tough, outdoorsy mountain men that populate the Green Mountain State. They raise cows and they grow apples. They chop a lot of wood, especially when they need to blow off steam. (Beards are optional but encouraged.)

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.

Loved!!!

This story was sweet, lighthearted and sexy! The characters were funny and sassy, just like I like 'em! Each character brought something different to the table and I greatly enjoyed them all. All I could do was wonder who would be in which following book! I want to know everyone's story now!

I enjoyed the dynamic of their relationship as well as the electric chemistry between Griff and Audrey.

Griff!!!

Griff is a sexy lumberjack farmer. Need I say more??

This story gave off a very close family-bond vibe. I felt very much at home. Families gather around the table with food and chatter, theirs did like mine does. I loved it!
And food!! There is so much talk of food, produce, cooking... I was in heaven!

A very cute book and great beginning to a new series. I can't wait for more!!

Six by K.I. Lynn

Six

I had a one-night stand. It wasn’t my first, but it would be my last.

A gun to the head.

A trained killer.

A deadly conspiracy.

Kidnapped and on the run, my life and death is in the hands of a sadist captor who happens to be my one-night stand. Armed with countless weapons, money, and new identities, the man I call Six drags me around the world.

The manhunt is on and Six is the next target. Can we find out who is killing off the Cleaners before they find us?

Two down, seven to go.

When it’s all over he’ll finish the job that dropped him into my life, and end it.
Stockholm Syndrome meets bucket list, and the question of what would you do to live before you died. The questions aren’t always answered in black and . Gray becomes the norm as my morals are tested.

Death is a tragedy, and I’ll do anything to stay alive.

Are you ready for the last ride of your life? Six has a gun to your head—what would you do?

This isn’t a love story.

It’s a death story.

**Due to the dark and explicit nature of this book, it is recommended for mature audiences only as some scenes may be particularly disturbing.**

I was a bit torn reading this book.
I made notes along the way at both 23% and 68%.
The first was not as good as the last.

The premise was awesome, the action was there.
There was a whole Jason Bourne gone crazy feel going on.

Six is a gorgeous, dirty talking sex god, killer!
BUT,
I found Paisley to be very blasé in the overall kidnapping thing.

There wasn't enough believability in regards to Stockholm Syndrome. Her connection and attraction happened too quickly.

She liked his cock, she was horny... so what if he held a gun to her head and told her he was going to kill her point blank as he banged her!? Right? Right?!??

Just because she said to herself "what's wrong with me that I'm enjoying this" didn't make me feel it.
She was quirky and sarcastic, and I get the nervous talking while you're scared bit... but I just didn't feel it. I didn't feel her.

My note at 68% was that now things had picked up.
I got into the action.
Now I felt their connection.
This is where the first thoughts of feelings and attachment should have been spoken about, not so early in the beginning.
In my opinion, of course.

In the end I enjoyed where the story went. The mystery and action of it all. It was pretty touch and go for me in the beginning with the insta-connection, but I'm glad I kept with it.
